§ 86-190. Veterans' preference.

(a)

Generally. Preference points in both open competitive and promotional examinations shall be granted as provided by federal and state law to qualified persons who have served on active duty with the armed forces of the United States and who were discharged or released therefrom under honorable conditions only, or who later received an upgraded discharge under honorable conditions.

(b)

Promotional examinations. Preference points on promotional examinations shall be granted only until such time as the veteran or other eligible person has received his first promotion.
