§ 86-268. Consideration of eligibles on certification.

  • (a)

    In making an appointment from an eligible list other than a layoff list, the appointing authority may choose a person whose name is included among the five scores highest on the eligible list. Normally, all persons who have achieved the five highest scores will be interviewed.

    (b)

    When considering eligibles, an appointing authority may exclude those persons:

    (1)

    Who decline appointment or request that they not be considered for appointment.

    (2)

    Who fail to reply within a period of five calendar days to a written inquiry of availability and interest, or to a written request to call or appear for an interview, or who cannot be contacted by mail, email, or telephone in a reasonable period of time.

    (3)

    To whom the appointing authority offers an objection in writing setting forth objective and substantive reasons acceptable to the human resources director as to why the candidate is not acceptable.
