§ 86-368. Voluntary demotions.

(a)

An employee may be demoted to a position in a class with a lower pay range upon written request subject to the approval of the appointing authority. The human resources director shall determine whether the employee is qualified to perform the duties and responsibilities of the lower class position.

(b)

When demotion is voluntary, the employee's pay rate shall be determined by the human resources director, but shall be no higher than the previous pay rate, or the maximum pay rate for the new class, whichever is lower.
