§ 82-42. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Archaeological or historic site shall mean as defined in section 62-1, "Code of Ordinances, County of Volusia County."

    Camping means to live briefly outdoors with or without temporary shelters, such as tents.

    Camping, individual, means camping by six or fewer individuals.

    Camping, group, means camping by more than six individuals.

    Campfire means an outdoor fire in a camp used for cooking, warmth or pleasure.

    Conservation land means land which the division of land acquisition and management has the sole or primary responsibility for managing.

    County means the County of Volusia, Florida.

    Director means the director of land acquisition and management or his/her designee.

    Division means the division of land acquisition and management of the county's department of growth and resource management.

    Land is intended to refer to water or wetland as well as to the solid surface of the earth.

    Mobility-impaired person means a person described by one or more of the following; paraplegic, hemiplegic, quadriplegic, permanently dependent upon a wheelchair for ambulation, permanently required to use assisting aids to walk, permanently required to use braces or prosthesis on both legs, and/or complete single-leg amputation.

    Off-highway vehicle means a vehicle as defined by Florida Statute.

    Resource-based means a use, recreational or educational, that is dependent upon natural resources for its occurrence.

    Special use authorization means the granting of a privilege to go on or use conservation land for certain purpose which does not confer any property or possessory interest to the user.
