§ 46-53. Imposition.

  • (a)

    Pursuant to the authority established by law, the county council does hereby levy a recurring and nonrecurring fee not to exceed $0.50 per month per access line (up to a maximum of 25 access lines per account bill rendered) for E 911 emergency telephone number system service as more specifically set forth by the resolution attached to Ordinance No. 87-34 and made a part of this division. Said resolution may hereafter be amended by the county council and fees adjusted from time to time.

    Editor's note— Section 1 of Res. No. 87-175, adopted November 5, 1987, established a fee of $0.40.

    (b)

    All telephone companies shall spread the payment of the nonrecurring charges for the implementation and installation of the E 911 emergency telephone number system service and equipment within the county over a period of 18 months, or any lesser number of months stipulated, and shall spread the payment of the recurring charges for operation and maintenance of such service and equipment over such period as the E 911 service is in operation. Pursuant thereto, all telephone companies shall bill said nonrecurring and recurring charges pro rata to the local exchange subscribers within the county served by the E 911 emergency telephone number system on an individual access line basis per account bill rendered, at a rate to be established from time to time by resolution of the county council, not to exceed $0.50 per month per line (up to a maximum of 25 access lines per account bill rendered).

    (c)

    Nonrecurring and recurring charges shall be those charges set forth at F.S. § 365.171(13), or its successor provision, and those charges approved by the state division of communications or its successor agency.
