§ 42-32. Findings.

Latest version.

According to the 2010 Federal Census conducted by the Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce, Volusia County has a total population of 494,593. Based on such census data and upon appropriate original data and records, the council finds that the population distribution of the respective districts established hereby is as follows:

District 1	100,212
District 2	98,043
District 3	98,079
District 4	98,053
District 5	100,206

The growth in population experienced by the county from 2000 to 2010 occurred disproportionately in districts 1 and 5. The small deviation between districts in the 2011 reapportionment preserves the core of prior districts, certain rural communities within a single district, and a planning area in the same district as the city exercising joint planning authority.
