§ 30-3. Purpose.

The purpose of this chapter is to:
(1)

Establish the procedures and criteria for the granting and renewal of nonexclusive cable television franchises covering any service area in the unincorporated portions of the county;

(2)

Establish minimum standards for the design, construction, operation and customer service of cable systems in the unincorporated portions of the county;

(3)

Ensure compliance in the unincorporated portions of the county of cable operators with the Cable Communications Policy Act of 1984, as amended by the Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992, and applicable state law; and

(4)

Regulate rates on basic cable and equipment costs pursuant to the Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992.
