§ 2-421. Appointment of additional boards and commissions.
(a)
The county council shall have the power to designate or create by resolution or ordinance such other boards or commissions, in addition to those established by the Charter, as may be necessary for the administration of the affairs of the county, and shall provide the duties and powers of the officers and members of such boards or commissions. Members of these boards shall serve without compensation unless otherwise specified by resolution or ordinance. All such boards shall be part of the county government and shall utilize the services of the legal department.
(b)
The length of term of appointees and method of appointment shall be specified in the enacting resolution or ordinance. Vacancies occurring in the membership of any board or commission shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term in the manner providing for the original appointment. Unless otherwise provided by resolution or ordinance, members of boards and commissions may be removed by majority vote of the council without cause.
(c)
The county manager shall be responsible for maintaining an accurate and up-to-date roster of all boards and commissions and their respective memberships, and shall advise the county council not less than 60 days prior to the expiration of any appointment.
