§ 2-138. Department of elections.

  • (a)

    As provided in the Charter, there shall be a department of elections. The department head of the department of elections shall be the supervisor of elections, who shall serve as the director.

    (b)

    The department shall be responsible for the administration of elections in accordance with federal, state and county laws and shall perform related duties as required. The department shall be responsible for overall supervision of registration rules and the conduct of elections in the county. The department shall provide for the registration of voters according to law, care and maintenance of the voting equipment, and the designating and training of personnel who administer operations at each polling location.
